Two Fragile X mums became friends after a chance meeting on a doorstep.

Mum, Rachael Woods was setting out on a practice run from the doorstep of her home, with twins Zoe and Freya, 27, in preparation to do a 5K event for the Fragile X Society.
The girls were sporting their Fragile X T-shirts, when mum Sarah Ker-Lindsay drove past Rachael’s house. “I instantly recognised the blue T-shirt as belonging to the Fragile X Society,” said Sarah, who was on a family trip to the garden centre.
“We drove past again to double check, and when I spotted the Fragile X logo, I knew I had to say hello!”
Sarah, who is mum to Adam, seven and Emma, 18 months, added: “Meeting another Fragile X mum who understands what it feels like [as a parent] is such a relief.”
Incredibly, the mums live just a few streets apart in Canterbury, Kent, and would have likely never spoken if it wasn’t for the power of the Fragile X T-shirt.
Rachael said: “It’s fantastic to have met Sarah and her family and all because the girls were wearing their Fragile X T-shirts!”
Since the chance meeting a year ago, Rachael and Sarah have met up for coffee and chats, with a Christmas gathering also planned between the families.
Rachael added: “I would encourage families to get behind the Society’s Wear it for Fragile X campaign by wearing the X pin badge or T-Shirt.
“It all helps increase the visibility of Fragile X and is a real conversation opener. You never know the friends you might find!”
