Being online is now part of everyday life. Many children, young people, and adults with Fragile X enjoy using tablets, phones, and computers to watch videos, play games, learn new things, and keep in touch with others. For families, this can bring a mix of positives and some understandable questions about how best to offer support.

People with Fragile X often bring real strengths to the online world. The internet can be a place where people feel confident exploring what they enjoy. At the same time, differences in social understanding, anxiety, literal thinking, or recognising risk can mean that a little extra guidance is helpful.

The aim is to help people with Fragile X feel confident, supported, and able to ask for help if something does not feel right.

Keeping Online Time Positive and Predictable

For many people with Fragile X, simple rules and routines can be reassuring. Agreed screen times, regular check ins about what they are doing, and gentle reminders about online rules can all help make the internet feel safer without taking the enjoyment away.

Most importantly, keep conversations open and relaxed.
