We are pleased to be sharing this helpful webinar from the National Fragile X Foundation and the LivJoy Foundation, which focuses on anxiety in females with Fragile X Syndrome.
In this session, expert speakers explore how anxiety may present, how to recognise it, and practical ways to support individuals at different stages of life. Anxiety is described as a natural “false alarm” response that can become more significant when it begins to affect everyday life, and in Fragile X it is often linked with sensory sensitivities and heightened arousal.
Common signs can include social anxiety, withdrawal, perfectionism, repetitive questioning, and a need for control or predictability. The webinar also highlights the importance of early recognition, particularly as anxiety and low mood can be closely connected.
A range of support options are discussed, including both therapeutic approaches and medication, with a clear emphasis on working alongside healthcare professionals to find the right support for each individual.
