The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has been championing volunteering and the voluntary sector for 100 years. To mark their centenary, a reception was hosted at Windsor Castle by their patron, Her Majesty The Queen.
We thank them all [charities] for making a difference to the world we live in. - Stuart Etherington, CEO- NCVO.
The NCVO represents and supports over 14,000 charities and voluntary organisations. The Fragile X Society were therefore extremely lucky to be one of the charities invited to attend the reception. Our CEO, Becky, attended and was able to discuss about Fragile X and the work of the Society with members of the Royal Family and the Royal Household, as well as with representatives from many other incredible organisations. It was also wonderful to hear about the work of these other amazing charities.
We are so grateful to Her Majesty for hosting the event, and promoting the work of organisations such as ours. We are also extremely grateful to the NCVO for supporting and empowering organisations like ours with skills and support to conduct our work.
We are immensely grateful to The Queen for recognising the role of charities and volunteers in such a special way. It’s important to remember, particularly at this point in time, the strength of our communities and the many volunteers and charities that sustain them. Without doubt, the world around us would be a very different place without them and their incredible contribution. -Peter Kellner, Chair- NCVO
